The course remains in the same original layout from 1925. Known as legendary course architect Jørğmůnd Mcẓ̌avelyund's magnum opus. Jørğmůnd, collectively known for his stunning course work at legendary clubs such as The Rothschild Club, The Links at Décines-Charpieu, the 33 hole par-3 course at Mourning Wood Country Club, and The Forbidden Course at Le Château des Empereurs, achieved true ascension in creating the course at Crooked Wood.
An 18-hole tournament course featuring winding fairways, drastic elevations, unparalleled views, and, what many pros fortunate enough to play it have described as, "an infuriatingly confusing layout".
Impossibly long for its time, the incredibly challenging course features 2 signature par 3s over the ocean, the tricky par 5 5th wrapping around the old sea fort, as well as the girthy 18th "member" hole with alternating greens.
The bunkers are deep and irrational, filled with finely crushed lava rock; excavated from the island’s own allegedly dormant volcano. The rough is thick, yet strokeable, weaving in and out of the encroaching jungle. The greens are wild and undulating with dastardly leveling and unforgiving design. Sam Snead described putting at CWCC as, "An unreasonable demand from a course designed by the devil".
The current course record is 87.
